The theater-going momentum declined when I moved from New York two years ago. And, so I was pouting and not posting and not seeing much for a long time.
But, after a long hibernation I'm seeing things again and I'll start posting again, I think.
That's not to say I saw nothing in the past two years.
Here are some highlights for my records and just so you know I didn't fall entirely off a cliff:
In the Heights (Broadway) July 2010 (better than I expected)
The Winter's Tale (Delacorte Theater) July 2010 (nice night out under the stars)
The 39 Steps (New World Stages) July 2010 (great comedic timing)
Moses in Egypt (Chicago Opera Theater) April 2010 (way better than I expected)
The Nose (The Metropolitan Opera) April 2010 (a piece of art)
The Damnation of Faust (Lyric Opera of Chicago) February 2010
L'Elisir d'Amore (Lyric Opera of Chicago) January 2010
South Pacific (Broadway - Lincoln Center) November 2009 (just okay)
West Side Story (Broadway) November 2009 (Amazing!)
Faust (Lyric Opera of Chicago) October 2009 (with Rene Pape)
Tosca (Lyric Opera of Chicago) September 2009 (opening night)
Alcina (Teatro alla Scala) March 2009 (sexy)
I due Foscari (Teatro alla Scala) March 2009 (not as good as Alcina)
Italian American Reconciliation (McAninch Arts Center) January 2009 (not so much)
Lulu (Lyric Opera of Chicago) November 2008
Abraham Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party Summer 2010?, Theater Row (adorable)
A Streetcar Named Desire 2009, Wheaton (very nice)
The list doesn't include school theater, dance or classical music.
